As the bank holidays begins, here’s a list of Jubilee celebrations taking place near you.

Innellan

In common with the rest of Britain, The Innellan Jubilee Beacon/bonfire will be lit on Thursday, June 2 at Cluniter beach at 9.45pm.

On Friday, there will be a Fancy Dress Parade for children which will start at old Royal Hotel site – aka Yellow Chipped Road – and will proceed to the Village Hall via Royal Brae.

In the hall, there will be an ‘indoor street party’ set up. Tickets for this will be available. There will also be a tombola, proceeds for this will go to Befrienders.

It is hoped that a group of older people will be brought along by Befrienders to be guests of honour.

In the evening there will be a Jubilee Quiz Night at the Royal Bar, Innellan.

On Saturday, a Jubilee Ceilidh with Canned Haggis will be held in the Village Hall – proceeds to Inspiring Innellan.

Blairmore

Blairmore village hall will host a Jubilee Celebration on Saturday, June 4 from 12 pm until 4 pm.

Live music from local band Miller Crossan, Jubilee Buffet £5, Strawberries and Cream £3. Tea, coffee and soft drinks (bar to be confirmed).

Strachur

A piper will be at the Creggans Inn on Thursday, June 2. There will be a lighting of the Beacon at the Bay and also at Strathlachlan and Saint Catherine’s at 9.45pm

On Saturday from 12noon to 5pm there will fun and games at the Memorial Hall in Strachur with all local groups promoting what’s going on in the Village. Also, a tree will be planted to commemorate the occasion.

Colintraive

At Colintraive Village Hall there will be live music by the Jammy Beggars on Friday June 3.

There will also be a bar, food by Shellfield farm, afternoon tea and a raffle.

The event starts at 12.30pm. Tickets are £15 and must be booked by May 28.

Cormonachan Community woods, Loch goil

In celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee Cormonachan, Community woodlands will host two free live theatre events. Macbeth, the red will be performed by the walking theatre company on June 3 at 7pm. Due to limited car parking, a bus will leave Lochgoilhead Car Park at 6.30pm. Earlier in the day, the walking theatre company will perform a family-friendly show of The Wonderland Adventure, a bus will leave Lochgoilhead car park at 1.30pm. Tickets are free. Ettrick Bay

The Lieutenancy of Argyll and Bute alongwith Mount Stuart Trust will host a beacon lighting ceremony from 8pm on Thursday, June 2, at the south end of Ettrick Bay.

Fanfares and music with bands and pipers will perform followed by a ceremonial tree planting by Sophie Crichton Stuart and Fiona Shaw, wife of Deputy Lieutenant, Stewart Shaw.

Port Bannatyne

Port Bannatyne will celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee with an afternoon of regal entertainment on June 4. Including a royal dog show, royal fancy dress, royal cake baking and a wonderful variety of live music.

There will also be Highland dancers, a beer tent, a food stall and children’s activities. 12noon until 4pm.

Rothesay

The Rotary Club of Rothesay, in partnership with the Lieutenancy, will host a street party on June 5.

This is scheduled to take place on Rothesay Esplanade from 1pm and will take the form of a big picnic.

Tables and chairs will be available on a first-come-first-served basis and you are invited to bring your own picnic.
