TWO political parties have announced their candidates for next May’s Scottish Parliament election.
The SNP announced that sitting MSP Jenni Minto will be its candidate for the poll, while the Liberal Democrats have selected former Argyll and Bute MP and former Cowal councillor Alan Reid.
Ms Minto said: “ I am very honoured and proud to have been selected by the SNP to stand in Argyll and Bute for re-election to the Scottish Parliament next year.
“It has been an absolute privilege to represent Scotland’s most beautiful constituency in our Parliament and I look forward to campaigning on the SNP’s record of delivery in government and for the need for Scotland to realise its full potential through independence.”
Mr Reid said “Next year’s election gives us a great opportunity to win back this constituency. Eighteen years of SNP
Government have been disastrous for Argyll and Bute.
“I warned the SNP 16 years ago that if they didn’t invest in new ferries, the ageing fleet would break down regularly. Sadly they ignored all the warnings and local people are now suffering the consequences.” As well as ferries, Mr Reid said he will be campaigning on Argyll and Bute’s roads and NHS.
Scotland goes to the polls on Thursday, May 7 2026.
