The countdown to one of the most exciting events on the UK rallying calendar has officially begun as the Dunoon Presents Argyll Rally launched this week, with its supplementary regulations now published and entries opening on May 1.

Set to take place from June 20-21, this year’s edition is shaping up to be the most thrilling yet, featuring a refreshed and revitalised route that blends fan-favourite stages with exciting new additions.

Now in its fifth year on the closed public roads of the stunning Cowal Peninsula, the rally continues to build momentum and a reputation as a must-do event for crews across the UK and beyond.

With a packed schedule of challenging stages and legendary local hospitality, entries are expected to be at a premium and organisers are urging competitors to enter early to avoid disappointment.

Thanks to the continued support of Dunoon Presents, the rally returns with backing from regional authorities, local businesses, and a community that passionately supports the event.

A favourite among fans and drivers alike, the rally boasts a prime place in several major championship calendars for 2025.

As one of only two asphalt events in its calendar, the Asset Alliance Group Scottish Rally Championship (SRC) returns to Dunoon in 2025, bringing an impressive mix of top-tier crews.

Their continued support of the Argyll Rally has helped cement its reputation as a must-do sealed-surface event.

Also back by popular demand is the Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Championship (BHRC), making its second consecutive appearance.

Fans can look forward to a dazzling display of classic rally machinery from the 1970s to the 1990s — a true nostalgic treat that adds to the rally’s unique appeal.

The Protyre National Asphalt Rally Championship, known for attracting some of the UK’s best asphalt specialists, makes its third visit to Argyll.

Reigning champion Callum Black, unbeaten on the event in both 2023 and 2024, has set a high bar, and 2025 is shaping up to deliver another thrilling battle for the top step of the podium.

Adding to the competitive mix, the rally is also a scoring round for several other championships, including the Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship, AS Performance North of England Tarmacadam Rally Championship, and the HRCR Mini Cup & Category One Championship.

New for 2025, the West Wales Rally Spares HRCR Stage Masters Challenge joins the line-up, further broadening the diversity and depth of the entry list.

The rally kicks off in spectacular style on Friday night with two passes through the famous Dunoon town centre stage, followed by five demanding countryside tests — including the full eight-mile Oyster Catcher stage run in the dark.

Saturday brings nine stages and 72 competitive miles in total, featuring exciting changes to the fan-favourite Bealach Maim stage and the introduction of an all-new challenge in Millhouses.

With Dunoon Stadium once again hosting pre-event documentation and service, the event promises an electric atmosphere both on and off the stages.

Clerk of the Course, Sam Spencer of Mull Car Club, is confident this year’s rally will set a new benchmark.

He said: “We’re delighted to launch the 2025 Dunoon Presents Argyll Rally.

“With the supplementary regulations now live and entries opening soon, we’re encouraging competitors to get their entries in early.

“This year’s event blends everything crews and fans love about Argyll with fresh new challenges — it’s shaping up to be a groundbreaking edition.”

More information on the Argyll Rally will be available for spectators and residents shortly.
